Q. How do I donate a prosthesis to ROMP and where does it go?

Once the donations are received, they are broken down, organized and shipped to Guatemala, Ecuador or other developing nations to be used in a hybrid system which incorporates these recycled components with a new “socket”; the socket is the part of the prosthesis which the patient’s limb goes in to.
Q. Do I need to be an expert in prosthetics in order to volunteer with ROMP?
A. No, ROMP is in need of all types of services, in the US and abroad. In the US, ROMP is in need of help finding and applying for grants, organizing fundraisers, raising awareness about the organization and the epidemic of untreated amputation, letting the public know that ROMP accepts donated prosthetic and orthotic equipment etc. Abroad, aside from clinical volunteers, ROMP needs translators, support staff and anyone willing to assist with the project.
Q. Does ROMP have any religious or political affiliations?
A. No, ROMP is a non-religious, non-political non-profit, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
Q. What is the cost of traveling on a ROMP mission?
A. Aside from the cost of travel, approximately $750 is required for in-country travel, lodging, meals and expenses.
Q. Does ROMP fund international volunteers?
A. No, All volunteers must raise their own funds. ROMP is happy to assist any group or individuals in their fundraising efforts.
Q. Where is ROMP located?
A. ROMP is involved in projects throughout Guatemala and Ecuador. The flagship laboratory is located at the Loren J. Mallon Centro de Rehabilitacion in Zacapa, Guatemala. The U.S. headquarters are in Chicago, Illinois.
Q. Can I write off donations to ROMP on my taxes?
A. Financial contributionss can be declared when filing taxes. Please contact us to request a receipt of your donation if necessary. You will need the following information when declaring a charitable contribution to ROMP:
