Leslie Martinez

Leslie Gabriela Martinez, a Certified Prosthetist and Board-Eligible Orthotist from the south suburbs of Chicago, IL. I graduated from Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine with a Master's degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics, and I currently work at Hanger Clinic in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. I enjoy hiking, exploring dainty coffee shops with my fiancé, and spending time with our floofy dog, Aspen.

Beyond my professional role, I’ve been fortunate to serve as a clinical volunteer with ROMP in both Guatemala and Ecuador, 2024 Ambassador team, and a proud member of ROMP’s 2024 10th Annual Climb Team (Team Cotopaxi!).

I support ROMP due to its commitment to raising awareness about the significant lack of access to prosthetic care for Latin American individuals. ROMP focuses on providing healthcare resources to those in need while also working within the O&P community to foster initiatives that promote cultural competency and better serve all future patients. All-encompassing the biggest advantage of all, forming a community. ROMP places emphasis on practicing servant leadership within the O&P field. I hope to empower future CPOs to adopt this approach and continually work toward improving the profession and its impact on underserved communities.

My favorite ROMP memory? The joy and dancing that erupted during the 2024 Ecuador Spring brigada, after patients received their new prostheses. It’s moments like that that remind us of why we do what we do—an attempt to make an impact, one step at a time.
